Blacklight Ink Blues

I've had a lot of questions lately about UV ink, and then even more questions about why i will not tattoo people with it. without getting too technical, normal tattoo inks are made with pigments consisting of hundreds of variations of chemicals and minerals depending on brand. like vitamin supplements in the US, tattoo ink is NOT regulated by the FDA. currently, there is only 1 brand of ink in the world approved by any country's FDA and that is the brand i have chosen to tattoo with, electric/easy glow ink.

UV inks are made like any normal ink, using chemicals and minerals, in many cases without oversight. many, if not most of these materials have been shown to be carcinogenic in humans. any MSDS sheet i have found for a blacklight ink merely states; PROPRIETARY PHOSPHORESCENT INGREDIENT, meaning the main component of their product is SO important, they cant tell you what it is or what it could potentially do to you

do you play russian roullette?? neither do i, and i'm sure as hell not going to hold the gun for you. i like you guys too much. i want you to be happy and healthy and enjoying your tattoos for as long as possible. i've spent hours upon hours researching the materials i use to give you the safest, best-looking skin art possible and to share that knowledge with you all.

i know there are shops and artists out there that'll be more than happy to take your money and tattoo you all you want with this stuff. and if you come to me for it and i tell you 'no' i'll give you what i believe to be a good reason not to. but you should really be asking the other guy why he says 'yes' and i hope his answer is more thoughtful than just 'to make money or it looks cool'
